Carbon Reduction Plan
Introduction
BHA Couriers Ltd is committed to reducing our environmental impact and actively contributes to the global effort against climate change. This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our strategies and measures to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, in line with government requirements.
ISO 14001 Certification
We have achieved ISO 14001 certification, demonstrating our commitment to an effective environmental management system. This certification ensures that we systematically identify, manage, and monitor our environmental issues. It also supports us in setting specific environmental goals and implementing action plans to achieve them.
Baseline Emissions and Reduction Targets
Our current baseline emissions stand at 75.7 tCO2e. Our goal is to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. We aim for a reduction of approximately 4% per year over the next five years, targeting a decrease from 72.67 tCO2e in Year 1 to 61.72 tCO2e in Year 5.
Environmental Management Measures
To achieve our targets, we will focus on the following areas:
Energy Efficiency: We aim to reduce our energy consumption by implementing energy-efficient measures such as switching to LED lighting and using passive infrared (PIR) sensors to manage lighting use efficiently in our offices.
Remote Working and Digitalisation: In order to reduce travel-related emissions, we have introduced work-from-home policies for our administrative staff and use digital meeting tools to minimize business travel.
Travel Policy: We have updated our company travel policy to prioritise low-emission transport options. This includes using public transportation, cycling, or walking for shorter journeys, and minimising air travel wherever possible.
Vehicle Fleet Improvements: Regular maintenance of our vehicle fleet will ensure optimal fuel efficiency, and we are in the process of integrating electric and hybrid vehicles into our fleet.
Supply Chain Management: We will work closely with our supply chain partners to encourage them to adopt similar carbon reduction measures and prefer suppliers who demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
Monitoring and Reporting
We will monitor our progress towards our targets regularly and adjust our strategies as needed. We will also publish annual updates on our carbon emissions and progress towards our reduction targets, in line with government reporting requirements.
Continuous Improvement
Recognising that the fight against climate change requires ongoing effort, we commit to regularly reviewing and updating our Carbon Reduction Plan. As we achieve our targets and as new technologies and strategies become available, we will revise our plan and set new targets.
